A recent project Johnsons Wellfield Quarries supplied its well known Sandstone for was a project at Birmingham University, as pictured on the right (and below). The team who worked on the job developed a very unique and robust piece of kit (pictured) named “Robodrill” – a robotic arm fitted with a Makita percussion drill, which drilled more than 30,000 holes into hard Yorkstone.
At JWQ we try our best to assist the local community wherever possible, for many years now we have helped Huddersfield Pendragon Round Table in their Charity Bonfire night at Crosland Hill.

Class 3.3 from Crosland Moor Junior School enjoyed a day out at JWQ. The children had a tour of the quarry which really helped them in their Science project “Rocks and Soil”. The children are pictured with a stone creation modelled on the character of Shrek by the latest robot technology at JWQ.
Johnsons Wellfield recently completed the supply of Crosland Hill Yorkstone to the prestigious National Maritime Museum in Greenwich London.
The Sammy Ofer Wing, which opened to the public on 13th July, relocates the main point of access to the museum so that visitors can enter it from Greenwich Park.

Well done to our Show Team, between them they put together a spectacular display at the Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate.
The display consisted of a house under construction which allowed visitors to see all the products necessary to complete a new home build, including concrete building blocks, natural walling stone, roof slates, timber, plasterboard, insulation, windows, doors, etc and not forgetting the kitchen & bathroom.

Plant Operative Peter has taken some brilliant wildlife photos from the cab of his dumper truck whilst at work on the quarry site.
Peter’s favourites are the Lapwing’s as they sit perfectly still, unperturbed by the chaos of quarrying operations around them.

Johnsons Wellfield has recently supplied Crosland Hill Hard Yorkstone to a unique project in which a property is being replicated and rebuilt from scratch.
Sandown Hall, a red sandstone Hall was dismantled stone by stone in the 1990’s after architects had made detailed drawings of it so that it could be rebuilt.

JWQ has donated a commemorative plaque to celebrate the Centenary of Bagshaw Museum & Wilton Park near Batley.
The unveiling ceremony at the end of last month took place in the presence of the Mayor, local dignitaries, invited guests and many members of the public.
